The Met Gala After-Party Looks Were Just as Entertaining as the Red Carpet

It's safe to say the Met Gala is the most highly anticipated fashion event of the year—moreso than any Fashion Week.

The annual fundraising gala and celebration of design benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It also benefits our eyeballs, because everyone looks amazing.

But the red carpet is just the beginning. The after-party is just as much an opportunity to make a statement, albeit sometimes a slightly cozier one.

These were our favorite party looks from the 2017 Met Gala.

Katy Perry channeled Lady Gaga (interestingly not in attendance) with this hooded pink sequin ensemble and some followers in matching shades.

Kate Hudson looked like a salsa dancer (and/or the flamenco dancing emoji,) in a scarlet Stella McCartney dress (and/or poncho) that contrasted nicely with her icy blonde hair.

These ladies chose slightly more understated looks, but still sported some stunning patterns.

Also, we want JLo's coat.

Though model Lily Aldridge's after-party look is more along the lines of what you actually feel like wearing after hours in a fancy dress: t-shirt, leggings, hair undone.

Emily Ratajkowski's simple black dress, while chic, is a notably understated choice for an event like this.

, on the other hand, doesn't really do understated. She simultaneously looks ready for bed and ready to party: a truly aspirational aesthetic.

While we admire her (and all the other attendees') commitment to the festivities, we're just as happy to stick with the commitment to bedtime.
