Wondering What Ivanka Trump's Actual Job Title Is? She's Just Announced It

The Ivanka Trump White House role has finally been made clear. Kind of.

After weeks of speculation (and some very raised eyebrows), the White House  formally confirmed the First Daughter's official role on Wednesday March 20: Special Assistant to the President.

According to The New York Times, she addressed concerns about her potential conflict of interests in a statement emphasizing the position is unpaid:

"I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules, and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House Office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees.

"Throughout this process I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House Counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role."

The move is intended to allay fears that her previously informal role could allow her to sidestep important accountability and transparency processes.

All the same, having a First Family member as an official government employee is, as Ivanka herself puts it, "unprecedented."

Especially given that her husband, Jared Kushner, already serves in a similarly powerful—and ambiguous—position as senior adviser and leader of the newly minted White House Office of American Innovation.

Watch this space.
