Word to the Wise: Don't Badmouth a Pregnant Woman—Especially Not Beyoncé

Beyoncé, as we all know, is slaying pregnancy as only she can.

But even Queen Bey isn't immune to hateful tabloid nonsense. After the singer posted photos of herself before heading to a Clippers game, gossip site MTO News posted an article calling out her larger-than-usual lips, speculating that she had cosmetic surgery.

This is ridiculous for a lot of reasons. Firstly, it shouldn't be a headline if a woman chooses to undergo plastic surgery.

But more importantly, the article disregards the physical changes a pregnant woman undergoes, which according to her publicist is the reason why Bey is looking a little different.

Beyoncé's rep, Yvette Noel-Schure, was quick to not only deny that Bey had surgery but to point out the unfairness and insensitivity of the accusation.

In an open letter to MTO News via Gossip Cop, Noel-Schure calls out the publication, saying:

"What do you know about the effects of pregnancy on a woman’s entire body? Please tell me. Did you know that in addition to weight gain there is often a dramatic change in the blood flow in the system and increased fluid causing swelling? Do you know that often women’s gums get swollen? Do you know that it sometimes affects our speech, our ability to chew intently and a host of other things?"

She continues, "But the sacrifice to our faces, our feet and our entire bodies is something we welcome because we bring beautiful humans into the world who will one day combat your hate and negativity."

Well said.
