Divorce used to be a dirty word. Now, between divorce parties and "conscious uncoupling", the divorce conversation has totally changed. And that's before we even get to the divorce selfie. The new thing to do when you part ways with your spouse? Take a happy snap. Genuinely.

Divorce selfies are the modern way of telling the world that yes, you are splitting up. And yes, you are still friends. It's a mutual decision you've taken to improve both of your lives.

There are more and more showing up on Instagram every day, but this one takes the cake (insert pun about wedding-related desserts here). On the left, we have the ex-wife. And on the right, we have the new wife. That's right, folks. All three points of the love triangle all in one photo. And the best thing? They all look like they're having one of the greatest days of their lives.

It's refreshingly cool.

Marriage is no longer a traditional act—so it makes total sense that people are now doing divorce in their own way, too.

Everyone taking divorce selfies seems to have one thing in common: instead of wallowing in heartbreak and regret, they look happy. Not just happy, genuinely optimistic about the future.

As that cliché goes, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".
